Sandvik facility in Malaysia manufactures underground load and haul equipment, such as Toro® LH517i loaders.

Sandvik’s production unit in Seremban, Malaysia, is strengthening the company’s global load and haul footprint and bringing manufacturing closer to customers across Asia Pacific and beyond.

In 2024, Sandvik invested approximately SEK 350 million in the facility, which was inaugurated in May that year. Located about 70 kilometers south of Kuala Lumpur in the Sendayan TechValley industrial park, the site provides strong logistics connections to regional and international markets. Since opening, production has ramped up steadily.

The facility manufactures medium to large loaders and trucks. Current production includes Toro® LH517i and Toro® LH410 loaders, and Toro® TH545i and TH330 trucks. Manufacturing of the Toro® TH663i truck – Sandvik’s largest underground truck with a 63-ton payload – is scheduled to begin in 2026. All equipment can be equipped with Sandvik AutoMine®, enabling automation-ready operations.

The Seremban unit operates as part of Sandvik’s global load and haul manufacturing network, alongside facilities in Turku, Finland, and Changzhou, China. Knowledge transfer between the sites has supported the ramp-up, and production in Malaysia follows the same processes, quality controls and testing procedures used at Sandvik’s other facilities.

“No matter where our equipment is assembled, it is built to the same Sandvik specifications and global standards.”

“No matter where our equipment is assembled, it is built to the same Sandvik specifications and global standards,” says VO Kataja, Managing Director at the Seremban factory. “Customers can expect the same level of quality, safety and performance whether the machine is produced in Finland, China or Malaysia.”

Precision is key for quality.

Approximately 100 people currently work at the site, with recruitment continuing in line with production requirements. The 60,000-square-meter area allows for future expansion as market conditions require. Today, about half of production is delivered within Asia, with the remainder shipped to markets including Australia, Africa and the Americas.

By combining local manufacturing with Sandvik’s global standards and expertise, the Seremban facility supports efficient delivery while maintaining consistent quality worldwide.
