Safety information sheets (SIS)

Safety Information Sheets (SIS) or Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are generally not required for drill bit products. However, since these products contain cemented carbide, which can pose certain risks under specific conditions, Sandvik voluntarily provides both documents.

Resharpening of hard metal may create exposure to hazards. To ensure safe handling of our carbide materials, Sandvik provides a Safety Information Sheet (SIS), and a Safety Data Sheet (SDS), adapted to meet U.S. regulatory standards for cemented carbide.

Required specifically in the United States, for customers purchasing blanks or finished products that are, or may be, ground.

Should the national legislation in any country exceed what is described above, for example, if a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is legally required also for articles, it is the responsibility of the sales organization for that country to identify this requirement and to arrange for the preparation and distribution of that sheet.
