Pre-support

Sandvik pre-support solutions stabilize the tunnel face and surrounding ground ahead of excavation, enabling safe, efficient advance in challenging conditions. Engineered systems for face and perimeter support combined with flexible installation methods ensure optimal adaptation to geology and predictable control of ground behavior. Integrated drainage solutions improve ground properties and reduce water pressure, maximizing safety, productivity, and performance at the heading.

Forepoling

Face bolts

Provide effective face stabilization in weak and variable ground with face bolts. Designed for unstable faces, soft ground, blocky rock and mixed conditions, they control ravelling and support the excavation front in fault zones and heterogeneous geology, ensuring safer and more predictable tunnel advance.

Spiles

Enable fast, reliable pre-support in weak and unstable ground with self-drilling spiles. One-step drilling and installation ensures safe application even in collapsing boreholes, while optional grout injection improves ground consolidation and supports continuous tunnel advance.

AT – TUBESPILE™

AT - Pipe Umbrella System

The AT - Pipe Umbrella System is an advanced pre-support solution designed to stabilize weak ground conditions in tunneling. Installed ahead of excavation, it improves safety and reduces deformation by transferring loads along the tunnel axis. Supporting applications from portals to collapsed section recovery and waterproofing, the system enables efficient, reliable tunneling even in the most challenging ground conditions.

Drainage and injection drilling systems

AT – Drainage System

The AT – Drainage System provides deep-reaching dewatering for tunneling and civil engineering, using a steel tube encased in a PVC filter pipe to lower groundwater and stabilize the surrounding ground.

AT – Tubespile™ Vacuum Lances are designed for temporary or semi-temporary drainage around the tunnel perimeter. The system uses an exterior steel tube with a PVC drainage tube inserted after drilling and operates as an uncoupled, single-pass solution. By reducing water content in the surrounding ground, it enhances stability and supports safe excavation.

The AT-GRP Injection System is a self-drilling solution using glass-fiber-reinforced pipes for ground improvement or waterproofing, especially where steel is not desired or where TBMs will later excavate the pipes. It offers flexible installation in both jointed rock and weak ground, with adaptable tube lengths and compatibility with standard drilling equipment and TBM setups.
