Sandvik introduces upgraded Toro® LH208L loader for low profile underground mining

Sandvik Mining announces the launch of a significantly upgraded Toro® LH208L loader, designed to deliver higher productivity, improved operator comfort and lower cost-per-tonne in low‑profile underground mining operations.

The upgraded Toro® LH208L is engineered for tunnels with headroom as low as 1.8 meters and combines a high payload‑to‑weight ratio with enhanced powertrain performance. The loader now has a Volvo Penta Stage V engine option available. delivers 14% more power and up to 36% more torque compared to the standard engine, enabling faster cycle times and increased tonnes moved per shift.

Multiple upgrades focus on operator safety, working environment and ease of maintenance. Noise levels inside the operator canopy have been reduced by 6 dB, corresponding to a 50% reduction in sound pressure, while whole‑body vibration has been lowered by nearly 30% through a bushing‑mounted canopy and improved seat suspension. Enhanced visibility, certified ROPS/FOPS protection and advanced safety systems further support safer and efficient operation.

The upgraded Toro® LH208L loader also introduces improvements aimed at reducing operating costs and downtime. Hydraulic reliability has been enhanced through increased cooling capacity and optimized component placement, while spare parts compatibility of 73% with the previous model helps simplify maintenance and parts management. A redesigned bucket structure increases bucket lifetime by up to 25%, contributing to lower maintenance costs over the machine lifecycle.

Digitalization‑ready by design, Toro® LH208L loader supports Sandvik’s connectivity and data‑driven solutions, enabling customers to monitor machine performance, maintenance needs and productivity through My Sandvik tools. The machine is also prepared for future upgrades and lifecycle services, supporting long‑term, sustainable underground operations.

The upgraded Toro® LH208L will be available globally supporting underground mining operations seeking reliable performance, lower emissions and improved working conditions in confined environments.
