Sandvik, Subterra strengthen partnership to advance flameproof underground solutions

Sandvik has signed a strategic equipment and services agreement with Subterra Asset Solutions to deliver safer, more reliable and higher-performing flameproof solutions to Australia’s underground mining sector.

Under the agreement, Sandvik will supply an initial fleet of 10 new Sandvik LS312 flameproof underground loaders to the specification developed with Subterra. The 12-metric-ton loaders are purpose-built to meet the rigorous demands of underground operations in challenging environments and designed for high-demand applications.

The first Sandvik LS312 units will be shipped from Sandvik’s Khomanani production unit in South Africa and are scheduled to arrive in Australia during Q2 2026.

Subterra Asset Solutions is an Australia-based underground mining equipment specialist, providing fleet rental and smart asset management solutions tailored for demanding environments, supported by responsive service and technical expertise.

“Subterra is proud to partner with Sandvik in delivering industry-leading flameproof solutions that prioritize safety and performance,” said Adam Gledhill, CEO of Subterra Asset Solutions. “This partnership allows us to offer our customers the very best in equipment reliability, supported by a service network that understands the unique demands of underground mining.”

The partnership combines Sandvik’s proven technology leadership with Subterra’s deep expertise in fleet rental and asset management, enabling customers to access world-class equipment backed by responsive technical support and lifecycle services.

“Sandvik and Subterra share a strong focus on customer outcomes,” said Drew Taylor, Business Line Manager – Mechanical Cutting at Sandvik. “Through this agreement we’re not only supplying high-quality loaders, but also building a long-term partnership that supports continuous improvement, customer confidence and sustainable productivity across the industry.”
