Sandvik’s Remote Monitoring Service revolutionizes equipment health
At MINExpo INTERNATIONAL® 2024 this week, Sandvik will be taking exhibit visitors on a journey by showcasing the different scenarios in which its Remote Monitoring Service (RMS) provides invaluable insight to predict and prevent equipment abnormalities.
Since its 2020 introduction RMS has solidified its position as a cutting-edge service that combines AI, cloud technologies and data science with Sandvik’s machine knowledge, service expertise and active monitoring to predict component abnormalities, provide shift-level operator competence development and identify causes. What sets RMS apart from other monitoring solutions available for the mining industry is that it provides an end-to-end offering that both identifies an issue and then provides a solution. It is an all-in-one product that ensures customers can operate their equipment worry-free as Sandvik takes on the role of supervising fleet health.
With Sandvik’s RMS, customers avoid purchasing expensive IT systems while enjoying access to monitoring that improves performance, safety and visibility. This results in less downtime and optimized maintenance planning through predictive and preventative maintenance recommendations by Sandvik experts. Relying on fact-based insights and reporting on measured data, customers can prevent failure as well as increase competence development for personnel based on associated recommendations. As a testament to the solution’s value, Sandvik is currently offering RMS to more than 1,300 equipment units at more than 100 mine sites globally.
In addition to RMS, Sandvik is pioneering its newest development in its suite of digital services called the Operator Guidance System (OGS). An evolution of RMS, OGS provides real-time insights to operators in the equipment cabin. Following the recent conclusion of successful OGS pilots on Sandvik TH663i, Sandvik expects to bring the innovative solution to market during Q1 2025 and extend OGS rollout to more equipment models during next year.
